The five-day Faculty Development Programme SAGHE 2026 (Self-Awareness and Higher Goals in Education) was successfully conducted at IIT Madras from May 25-29, 2026. Organized in collaboration with the Teaching Learning Centre (TLC) and the Rekhi Centre of Excellence for the Science of Happiness, the programme brought together educators from diverse disciplines to explore the deeper purpose of education through self-awareness, holistic development, and transformative teaching practices. The event featured lectures, discussions, experiential sessions, and reflective practices inspired by Indian wisdom traditions and contemporary educational thought.

The Rekhi Centre for the Science of Happiness, IIT Madras conducted a creative and uplifting online workshop titled “Pocket Full of Happiness: A Doodle Art Workshop” on 6th December 2025, under the Science of Happiness Seminar Series. The session was facilitated by Ms. Anushree Dindorkar, founder of Pocketfullofhappiness and an art-based happiness educator known for blending art, mindfulness and wellbeing practices. This interactive workshop introduced participants to mindful doodling as a joyful and accessible tool to reduce stress, spark creativity and enhance emotional wellbeing. Through simple, hands-on art exercises, attendees explored how doodling can promote relaxation, positivity and present-moment awareness. The event received warm participation and further supported the Centre’s mission of offering meaningful wellbeing experiences to the IIT Madras community

The Rekhi Centre for the Science of Happiness, IIT Madras successfully conducted an engaging wellbeing workshop titled “From Chaos to Clarity: Mastering Stress and Focusing Like a Monk” on 29th November 2025, as part of the Centre’s ongoing Science of Happiness Workshop Series. The session was facilitated by Ms. Rupangi Shah, Founder of Aarambh Mental Wellness, and an experienced Clinical Psychologist and Wellness Educator. This interactive, high-energy workshop brought together students, faculty and participants from across institutions to explore practical, science-backed strategies to manage stress, reduce overthinking and develop deeper focus. Using tools from mindfulness, cognitive psychology and behavioural science, the session offered hands-on activities to help individuals feel more grounded, think clearly and enhance everyday wellbeing. The event received an enthusiastic response and reinforced the Centre’s commitment to creating meaningful learning experiences that support emotional resilience and holistic growth within the IIT Madras community.

MoU Signed to Establish the Rekhi Centre of Excellence for the Science of Happiness at IIT Madras

IIT Madras has signed an MoU with the Rekhi Foundation for Happiness to establish the Rekhi Centre of Excellence for the Science of Happiness within the Department of Management Studies. The agreement was formalized on 24th March 2025 in the presence of Dr. Satinder Singh Rekhi, Prof. Manu Santhanam, Prof. V. Kamakoti and faculty members from DoMS. This collaboration marks a significant step toward integrating happiness studies into the academic curriculum and advancing research on wellbeing, resilience and emotional growth. The Centre will offer innovative courses and hands-on learning through a dedicated Mind Lab, promoting holistic development alongside academic excellence. The initiative reinforces IIT Madras’ commitment to redefining education by placing equal emphasis on knowledge, wellbeing and human flourishing.
